The Gift of Grace
The party was just days away,
it would have been her first;
and now to us the gift of grace
helps us through the worst.
This ripping hole so few can know,
yet You who lost a Son;
will help us by the gift of grace
until our days are done.
We’ll long to see our little girl –
there’ll never be a day
that we won’t need the gift of grace
to help along the way.
Enjoy her Lord, as we sure did,
now she is in Your care.
Bestow in her the gift of grace
until we both get there.
thank you
Your poem sums up well a sad experience few of us understand. Thanks.
What a beautiful memorial poem for your Autumn Nicole. Praying that others who have lost a little one will read and be comforted by His grace as well. God bless you and thank you for all you do in Christ.
The granddad had her while they were walking out of church. An older man was backing out and hit the gas instead of the brake.
Oh . . .that is so heart breaking. Praying for everyone now. Thanks Mike , for sharing this.
Who are you, Mike? Please tell me how you came to write this beautiful poem about my precious Granddaughter, Autumn??
Chris
Tom F. is my wife’s brother. We were with them when they got the news. Couldn’t get it off my mind.
Well I got a chance to talk with my sis yesterday and she let me know it was you. I just want to thank you so much for such beautiful poetry! You certainly honored the memory of our sweet Autumn and blessed our whole family!
I sent it on to Richard & Amanda and they loved it too. Thank you again, Mike!
p.s. I’m certainly enjoying the rest of your blog as well!
Thank you for your kind words about my precious niece! I love seeing these beautiful sentiments!
I enjoy writing poems and short stories. The poems seem to be reserved for the things that move me most. The first two lines came within a couple of hours of when we heard the news. The rest came a couple of weeks later when we received the card you sent. About every time i walked by it, I stopped and stared at the picture on the front. Between that, your words, and an article my son found on the internet from the local news paper, the ‘gift of grace’ seemed to be fitting. I’m glad to know you agree.
Thanks for your encouraging comments.
