Do you remember the old Coleman lantern? The white mantles were attached to a stem that was connected to the fuel reservoir? At a point, the mantles were lit and the amount of light they gave off was determined by the amount of fuel that flowed through that stem.

I believe when we first come to God, our mantles are lit. Mine has been lit for over 40 years. There have been times that it has had a fair amount of fuel flowing to it, and regrettably, though it has never gone out, there have been some times that it had little.

The mantle, own its own, cannot burn brighter. Its brightness is in direct relation to the amount of fuel that flows from the reservoir through that stem.
