Day 6 – What a Day

I offer this opinion, in an attempt to reconcile, what seems, on the surface, to be some inconsistencies in the order of creation. For example: on the 6th day, God created male and female. And though God created vegetation on day 3, by day 6 “no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth”. And yet, “God formed the man (on day 6) and put him in the garden that He had planted”. And it was not until after Adam had been put there, and after he had named some of the animals that God made the statement, “it is not good for man to be alone”. It was apparent that for Adam, “no suitable helper was found”. (I lighten up – don’t worry.)

It appears that God worked 5 days a week and then twice as hard on Saturday. By 9:00 AM (because we know that God does more by 9:00 AM than most people do all day) on day 6, He had created livestock, animals and man. At the beginning of the day, the vegetation which He created on day 3 had not yet sprung up, so in addition, He made His garden grow – really fast.

Towards the end of the day, (but before nightfall (because nightfall marks the beginning of day 7 and we know He rested on day 7) after Adam put in his first day of work naming all the animals that came to him in couples (because God had made them with the ability to reproduce) there was still a few hours left in the day (because it just happened to be daylight savings time) it was noted that there was no suitable helper for Adam, and with just a few hours of daylight left, God wraps up his creation with Adam’s suitable helper – suitable primarily for reproduction, but just like God to think of everything, suitable also for all the help and companionship He knew Adam would need.  Slam dunk; day 6 is done. Time to rest.
