From Genesis 3-5

Have you ever wondered where Cain’s wife came from? After he was banished to a different area, the text reads as if he immediately found a wife and had a son – Enoch. But consider this likely possibility. 

First, 3:20 says that Adam named his wife Eve because, “she would become the mother of all the living”. So, believing the Bible says what it means and means what it says, Cain’s wife had to be one of Adam and Eve’s daughters – his sister in other words. But before you gasp, consider this. 

It says that when Adam was 130 years old, he had Seth. And, “after Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters”. It also says that Seth lived a 105 years before he “became the father of Enosh”.  

105 years provides plenty time and opportunity for Adam and Eve to have several daughters, both for Cain and Seth to end up with. And at least for Cain, since he was banished to a different place, it wasn’t like it was the sister he grew up with.  

And so, at least in my mind, I now am at peace with a question I have wondered about for years. Where did Cain’s wife come from? She came from Eve.
